Jamie Carragher admits he is desperate for Liverpool to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window.

Carragher watched Bellingham play in with the Liverpool legend involved in a bit of back-and-forth banter with CBS Sports reporter Nico Cantor.

The former England defender had attempted to get Cantor to propose to his girlfiend on Valentines Day with the reporter seeking back-up during a pitch-side interview with Bellingham on Wednesday.

Bellingham – – declared that “he had Cantor’s back” and told Carragher to “do better” and the former Liverpool defender took the England international’s advice onboard.

Carragher said: “I want that man in a red shirt, so I will do anything he tells me to do. So if Jude Bellingham has any more advice for me, I’m taking all day my friend.”

Fellow pundit Micah Richards teased Carragher later by claiming he is “desperate” to see Bellingham in a Liverpool shirt.

“(Desperate) For Jude Bellingham?” Carragher asked Richards on CBS Sports. “I am! We are!”

Bellingham was “surprised” at how easy it was for Karim Adeyemi to score the only goal of the game against Chelsea in Dortmund’s Champions League win.

“Just pace, wasn’t it? I was surprised they left just one back especially when they knew it was Karim that was going to be breaking,” Bellingham told CBS Sports after the game.

“He got the ball under control well and he just used the attributes that we all know he’s got and what we’ve seen in training from him. Now that he’s adapted and is comfortable we know he can create moments like that.”

On the return leg at Stamford Bridge, Bellingham continued: “It’ll be a brilliant experience for us.

“I think we all dream of playing in games like that where we go away to big teams and we try to get a positive result to see our team into the next round, so you’ve got to enjoy games like that, you can’t shy away from it and we’ll definitely be up for it in the second leg.”

On being selected as captain, Bellingham added: I think it comes quite naturally, but for me it’s probably the biggest honour of my career so far, to captain this football club.

“I know that without the captain’s armband I can still try and lead the team and this is just kind of a bit more for show, but we need to all be captains in the second leg. It’s important that we all show up and we all get the job done.”
