RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo is a summer transfer target for Premier League side Man Utd, according to reports.

The Spain international has only started 11 Bundesliga matches this term with Olmo seemingly out of favour Marco Rose at the Red Bull Arena.

Olmo has only contributed three goals and four assists in all competitions for the German outfit this season but at 24 there is still a lot to come from Olmo.

with Olmo reportedly ‘leaning’ towards a summer exit from Leipzig.

And Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk has an update on the Man Utd target. Falk wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Another Bundesliga midfielder hotly discussed in the Premier League is Dani Olmo.

“The Spaniard would like to join FC Barcelona, but is not averse to a move to England. Manchester United are also among those interested whilst Leipzig are struggling to renew Olmo’s contract.

“The problem: Olmo wanted to have an immediate release clause for the summer of 2023 in the new contract. Originally, two clauses were agreed in the first round of negotiations last summer – one generally for any interested party (around €70-75m) and one for his home and desired destination Spain (around €60m).

“But now that the season has progressed and the club is looking ahead to the next, an immediate release clause could backfire badly.

“Chief amongst Leipzig’s fears is the possibility of a club signing Olmo shortly before the end of the transfer deadline – leaving the side with minimal time to find a replacement. In order to future-proof, Olmo should definitely stay for at least another year.”

Speaking earlier this week on the possibility of leaving, Olmo said: “I’m not in a hurry. I’m very happy here and I still have a contract until 2024. I see no reason to leave this summer and change clubs. I just realised how fast time can go. I’ve had six difficult months and I’m happy to be able to play again.

“I only concentrate on my games and nothing else. I’d like to play in Champions League, that’s clear. And everyone here feels the same. That’s our goal and I’m sure we’ll achieve it this year.”

Back in January Olmo revealed his desire to play in Spain at some point in his career with Barcelona heavily linked with his services.

Olmo said: “I have a contract until 2024. Right now, I’m not thinking about that, only about the next games. We have three competitions ahead of us. Things happen so fast in football and can change all the time. I have my adviser who takes care of it. I just focus on football.

“I played for Barcelona for six years when I was young. It will always be a home for me. Many of my friends from the national team play there.”
