Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly still ‘very interested’ in Julian Brandt, and are forcing ‘great efforts’ from Borussia Dortmund to keep hold of him.
A couple of good seasons at Dortmund have done wonders for Brandt’s career prospects. After struggling somewhat to adjust in the first couple of years after his move from Bayer Leverkusen, he’s reached a very good level.
Indeed, last season, the attacking talent scored nine goals and provided 11 assists, all but two of those coming in the Bundesliga.
He’s followed that up with some more great performances this term. Brandt has scored nine goals and provided five assists in all competitions so far this season.
He’s been part of a very good Dortmund side that are two points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
His role in that side has led to Premier League interest. Both Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked for some time, with .
A Premier League move has reportedly been in Brandt’s thoughts for a while. And making the switch to the league’s top side would be an indictment of his recent quality.
A fresh report has stated both Arsenal and Tottenham are causing problems for Dortmund. Indeed, Deutsche Welle reports the pair are still ‘very interested’ in Brandt.
That interest is apparently forcing ‘great efforts’ to keep him at the club. The financial pull of a Premier League side could be too strong for Dortmund to keep at bay.
For Brandt, though, the report suggests he’s in an ‘excellent position’. Indeed, he’s got until 2024 left on his contract, so will either get a renewal or another move would likely come this summer.
If one or both of Arsenal and Tottenham come knocking, given Brandt’s apparent desire to play in the Premier League, Dortmund might not be able to turn that down.
If that’s not to happen, they could tie him down to a new deal. He might not accept that if a big side comes in for him, but if not, given how effective he’s been of late, he shouldn’t have too many problems staying at Dortmund.
Either way, the star is in a good position going forwards and will be playing for a good side next season whatever happens.
