There has been plenty of speculation over the next Tottenham manager and Ally McCoist thinks a current Premier League boss would be perfect for the job.

Antonio Conte is yet to commit his future to the club and Spurs are now considering his replacement for next season.

Plenty of names have been mentioned for the job, including the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.

However, McCoist likes the idea of Fulham manager Marco Silva taking over at the club.

and McCoist believes that he would be ready for the step up.

“He (Silva) has certainly recovered from the dodgy spell he had at Everton,” McCoist told talkSPORT. “Fulham have been fantastic. Fulham, Brighton and Brentford have been doing really well.

“Is he ready for it? He is probably ready for it. I don’t think he will get it, not yet.”

Silva has rebuilt his reputation at Fulham after things had ended on a sour note for him at Goodison Park.

He guided Fulham to promotion at the first time of asking in the Championship and they have adapted well to life in the Premier League.

Silva’s side sit eighth in the Premier League and are only nine points behind Spurs as things stand.

Tottenham returned to winning ways at the weekend with a 3-1 home victory against Nottingham Forest.

While Conte’s future does remain up in the air,

“There are 11 games to go and we needed today to bounce back to show that we are strong mentally and in this type of situation the morale can be really down but instead I see the right spirit, the right fight and the right desire to get the three points,” Conte said.

“I continue to say maybe this season it be much more difficult, much more difficult because Liverpool is a competitor in this race. Newcastle is a competitor but Newcastle is a different Newcastle to the past. They invest a lot of money and they have a strong team.

“We have to think to ourselves. Before during an interview, they ask me about Liverpool and today Liverpool lost but we have to think to ourselves. A top club looks to themselves, not to look at other results and see.”
