VfL Wolfsburg rounded off Bundesliga Matchday 10 with a 3-1 victory at FC Heidenheim on Sunday evening. The Green-and-Whites made a fast start and took the lead through Yannick Gerhardt after only three minutes, before Bence Dardai doubled the visitors’ advantage shortly before the interval. Heidenheim played with greater urgency in the second half and pulled a goal back through Marvin Pieringer in the 64th minute, but despite pushing hard for an equaliser they were unable to find a way past VfL goalkeeper Kamil Grabara. Tiago Tomas completed the scoring in the 90th minute to secure the Wolves’ third away league win of the current campaign.

Early setback: The Wolves’ third-minute opener was the earliest goal Heidenheim have conceded in the Bundesliga.

VfL’s lightning start: In a sensational start, Gerhardt opened the scoring after just 140 seconds. His effort from 23 metres, travelling at a speed of 97.94 km/h, found the net despite an xG of only 0.03.

Quicker than Dad: Bence Dardai scored his first Bundesliga goal on only his third appearance, opening his account quicker than father Pal (18th appearance) and brothers Marton (32nd appearance) and Palko (nine appearances without a goal).

Impressive away run: The Wolves had picked up seven points on their travels prior to Sunday’s trip to Heidenheim, and were able to extend that fine away run with a 3-1 win.

Unbeaten against FCH: Heidenheim are the only current Bundesliga side who are yet to beat the Wolves in a competitive fixture.
