Head coach Ole Werner: “As expected, there are mixed feelings today. We felt that we could’ve got something from the game. The only thing we lacked today was being clinical in front of goal. The boys gave a top performance and that’s why we shouldn’t get our heads down. It’s just frustrating that we couldn’t reward ourselves for that today. We have to take with us the belief that we can keep up against an opposition like that and bring our game.”

Christian Groß: “We can be pleased with our performance today, but not the result. When you’re so close to picking up at least a point against Bayern, it’s even more frustrating. Compared to the reverse fixture, we played very well and gave them a good fight, but you have to make the most of the chances you have. We have to go into the remaining games with the spirit and intensity that we showed today.”

Romano Schmid: “We really wanted to win the game, and I think you could see that. We fought until the last second. In the first half, we even had the better chances. The fact that they didn’t go in is the small difference to a top side. If we score that goal sooner, then it will be even tighter. We can be proud of our performance, but the defeat is hard to take.”

Niklas Schmidt: “When you play against a big club with that quality, a top performance from us today isn’t enough. They are simply better. We did well as a team; we played a bit more defensively at the start and were waiting for the counter attack. We had one or two very good chances. Overall I think we played well. We gave everything throughout and kept the belief until the end. Little things didn’t go our way and then it becomes difficult to win the game. A draw wouldn’t have been undeserved.”
