Head coach Ole Werner: “I’m pleased for the team, because they managed to put in a strong performance and bring home the three points. Our display in Freiburg was good, but this was another level, and we were ultimately rewarded for it with the result. We will need some time to continue to develop, but I think we proved how well we can perform as a team when we are at our best. It’s great that we were able to keep a clean sheet.”

Marco Friedl: “Everyone was really up for the game. We started strongly and had a lot of attempts on goal. We were aware of their game plan of playing long balls and dealt with it well, so we ultimately deserved this win. I’m thrilled that we managed to keep a clean sheet. The team did really well overall and let very few long balls or set pieces through the defence. Credit to the boys.”

Romano Schmid: “It’s been a while since we’ve kept a clean sheet and defended everything that came our way, but there’s still room for improvement on our counterattacks – that applies to me too. My chance had to be a goal. The win will definitely boost our morale as a team, and we didn’t stop believing in ourselves throughout the 90 minutes. We kept possession and remained calm at the end of the game, which isn’t something we didn’t well in the second half of last season, so we can definitely be proud of our performance.”

Jens Stage: “We played pretty well last week, but couldn’t quite get a result. Today was a great performance, and thanks to the support of the fans, we were able to come away with all three points – it was the perfect afternoon. The points are obviously the most important outcome, but I’m also really happy with my goal – what a great cross that was from Mitch.”
