SV Werder Bremen kick off their second delegation trip to Vietnam

“It’s important for us to build on our pre-existing contacts and get the ball rolling on our new projects, which we’re carrying out on-site in collaboration with our partners,” explained Dominik Kupilas, Werder Bremen’s head of fan and business development, who is responsible for overseeing the delegation in line with the Green-Whites’ internationalisation strategy. “We’ve increased our presence in Vietnam since autumn and our last trip in December, and after experiencing success in the previous visit, we’re feeling excited to continue down this path and work directly with the community.”

Working in collaboration with “Football for all Vietnam”

SV Werder will work together with “Football for All Vietnam” and Common Goal to provide support to thousands of children.

After visiting the Chuyen Ngoai Ngu high school in December, this year’s delegation will make the trip to the Dong Da secondary school, where lessons are delivered to the pupils in German. Werder have collaborated with the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA), whose network provides support to the school, to create comprehensive learning materials at an A2/B1 level of language proficiency. The eight-lesson course is centred primarily around football, with Werder Bremen at the forefront, and has been made available to teachers around the world via the online learning resource PASCH-net.

SV Werder Bremen will deliver two different programmes during their visit to the Southeast Asian region, working in close collaboration with the organisation “Football for All Vietnam”, who are part of the larger Common Goal initiative to unite the global football community. 18 teachers from various provinces will be trained in alignment with the “Goal Masters” education course. Later on in the year, they will proceed to organise 18 “Fun Football Festivals” across the country, with the aim of getting approximately 3,000 participants involved. The two projects link together closely and are orientated around the topics of football and sustainability, as well as providing information on the subject of climate change.

The project “Football for All Vietnam” has the goal of using the power of the game to foster inclusive participation and leadership development, in doing so reducing gender inequality among marginalised groups in nine Vietnamese provinces. The primary target groups are boys and girls of primary and secondary school age. The delegation will visit the “Blue Dragon Children Foundation” as they did last year, and are also set to meet with the board this time round. The foundation’s primary objective is to provide support to children and young people affected by sex trafficking, forced labour or slavery, and assist in helping these individuals access safe accommodation, education and employment.

The Green-Whites are set to receive key support from the Bremen Economic Development (WFB) just as they did with their first trip to Vietnam. The WFB, with its Bremen Invest office in Vietnam, has made several arrangements for the trip in the local area. Meetings with representatives from the Chamber of Foreign Trade will be carried out, as well as a friendly against the “Vietnamese German Eager Company (VGEC)”, a business event on Bremen as an economic hub and visits to Vietnamese media such as VTV and TheThao247. There is also a reunion with influencer “Phat Freestyle” included in the trip’s action-packed schedule, which will run until Friday.
