Andreas Voglsammer is leaving 1.FC Union Berlin to join the English Championship club, Milwall FC. The Rosenheim born striker arrived in Berlin last Summer when his contract at Arminia Bielefeld expired.

Important and beautiful goals

He played in 32 Bundesliga games in 2020/21, albeit mostly appearing mostly as a substitute, scoring two and assisting another. The 1.77m tall right-footer was also involved in every round of the successful 2021/2022 DFB Cup season, where he also also contributed two goals and an assist.

And nobody will forget his astonishing strike in the third round of the DFB Pokal against Hertha BSC, which was awarded the goal of the month for January.

Equally essential during that cup run was the goal to regain the lead in the 2-1 win against FC St. Pauli in the quarter-final. Voglsammer also proved himself in last year’s Europa Conference League, scoring two in eight games including the play-offs. He crowned his performance in the first competitive match of this season with an assist for Jordan Siebatcheu’s important equaliser in the first-round DFB Cup win in Chemnitz.

“It has been a wonderful year at Union. I’m proud of what we achieved as a team last year and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the club and the boys in the new season. Now I have a new challenge ahead of me, I’m also really looking forward to English football and to meet my new team,” said the 30-year-old about his transfer.

Oliver Ruhnert, Union’s director of professional football, is also happy for him: “We thank Andreas for his performances in the Union jersey, with which he made a decisive contribution to our success last season. We understand that he is hoping for more playing time and wish him all the best at his new club.”
