Almost three months before the start of the European Championship in Germany, most of the national teams of Europe have their final round of friendlies lined up during the international break. Six players from 1. FC Union Berlin have been called up for their national teams.
The nominees
Frederik Rönnow will be with the Danish national team for two games, both in front of a home crowd in Copenhagen, against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands. The hosts have a positive record against both teams and can look positively towards the Faroe Islands, against whom they have won six out of six matches.

András Schäfer and the Hungarian national team will play two home matches at the Puskas Stadium in Budapest during the upcoming international break. National coach Marco Rossi’s team will first face Turkey, before testing themselves against Kosovo. For the midfielder, the two games will mark his comeback for the Hungarian national team after his long injury break.

Aïssa Laïdouni’s Tunisia will play just a single friendly over the break, meanwhile, in the North Africans’ first match since their group stage exit from the Africa Cup of Nations. For Laïdouni, the friendly against Croatia could be his 44th international match.

Josip Juranović has already experienced several highlights with his national team, the most recent of which being the match for third place at the 2022 World Cup. After winning that, they lost the 2023 Nations League final to Spain 4-5 on penalties, but are now focussed on their game against Tunisia.

Brenden Aaronson will face Jamaica with the US national team in the semi-finals of the CONCAF Nations League. Having already won this competition in the last two editions, a win against Jamaica would bring them a big step closer to defending their title once again. Accordingly, a possible final or the third place playoff, both on March 24, 2024, will follow the semi-final.
