Despite having established a strong working relationship, retail company REWE has not yet been brought into the sponsoring family of 1. FC Union Berlin.

REWE and 1. FC Union Berlin will work closer together from the start of the 2021/22 season. We kicked off the joint sticker album in 2020 where Union supporters were able to collect their favourite memories from the promotion season.

The two-year contract concluded as a premium sponsor includes not only a presence in the stadium on regional boards and a hospitality package, but also the provision of regional REWE stores with fan merchandise of 1. FC Union Berlin.

REWE stores also express their regional ties with their initiative “Unioner, wir sind dein Markt” (“Unioner, we are your store”) and see themselves as a family partner of the Köpenick club, particularly through their new commitment to the youth section of 1. FC Union Berlin. Be it with the organization of an annual youth tournament or the opportunity to become a mascot for a Bundesliga match at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

Throughout the season, there will also be regular prize draws at participating supermarkets.

“At Union, the focus is on people, you can feel that at every turn. With us, it’s the guests in the supermarkets. This self-image unites us. The commitment to Union comes very much from our merchants and their teams on the ground,” said Stefan Hörning, Chairman of the Board at REWE Ost.

“Everywhere, people were busy collecting and embroidering, and later, of course, swapping. A few stickers are still left over but we would not be Union if we had not planned another surprise together with REWE,” said Thomas Stäpke, 1. FC Union Berlin’s Managing Director of Finance and Sales.
