Fatma Sakar Called up for Turkey

1. FC Union Berlin’s women’s team will have to do without defender Fatma Sakar at the start of their season preparations on 8 July, as the 25-year-old has been called up for the Turkish national women’s football team.

This is the first call-up to the Turkish team for the Karlsruhe-born player. She has previously played for the DFB at youth level, making a total of 25 appearances from the U15 to the U19 level.

Selection coach Necla Güngör’s team will be attending a training camp from 1 to 17 July and will also play two qualifying matches for the European Championship during this time.
