A Busy Winter Ahead

Following a successful first half of the season, 1. FC Union Berlin’s professional first women’s team will begin preparations for the second half on 8 January 2024.

Training camp in Spain – numerous friendlies

After the final league match against Bischofswerda two and a half weeks ago, head coach Ailien Poese’s team recently completed a joint training programme and underwent final lactate diagnostics last week. The players have been given personalised training plans for their upcoming days off.

The joint preparation then starts on 8. January 2020 with the semi-annual athletic tests before the first training session on the pitch the following day. On Saturday, 13 January 2024, Union will play their first friendly against VfL Wolfsburg’s second team.

Just under a week later, the leaders of the Regionalliga Nordost will fly to their training camp in Campoamor, Spain. Many Union fans will remember the location well, as the men’s team visited the Costa Blanca almost exactly a year ago. Two further friendlies are planned there, one of which will be against Swiss club Grasshopper Club Zürich. Information on the date and opponent of the second friendly will follow as soon as details are finalised.

Three further games will follow in February to ensure the best possible preparation for the start of the second half of the season.
