VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We didn’t produce a top-class performance today and we’re obviously disappointed with the result. Köln played well, especially in defence. We lost possession too easily. The goal we conceded is frustrating. At the end, we were even fortunate not to lose the game. It’s not a defeat and we’ll have to live with the point. Who knows how valuable it’ll end up being.”
Waldemar Anton: “It ended up being an open game. That’s not the way we planned it, and it shouldn’t have panned out that way. We had enough chances to win it. We started well and deservedly took the lead, but we should have defended better after that and taken advantage of our chances.”
Chris Führich: “We controlled the game against a compact opponent who defended aggressively. We knew it’d be a tough game. We were lacking the final ball in a few situations. We had the chances to win the game, but we couldn’t put them away. At the end we were lucky not to lose. Overall, we’re disappointed.”
