VfB Stuttgart’s visit has become a tradition and a fixed date in the club calendar. The involvement of private individuals and companies in the region is vital to the implementation of the Vesperkirche, and VfB’s day is something very special for everyone. “The Stuttgart Vesperkirche is a brilliant example of the social cohesion in our city,” said VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle. “Especially when the gap between rich and poor is unfortunately widening, we have to move closer together. VfB has been doing this for several years and I am proud that we are able to make our contribution again this year with our first team and staff.” Helping and listening During their visit, the players not only handed out food and drink but also sat down with the guests to talk to them, share stories and simply listen. The Vesperkirche always offers special opportunities for both sides to take time and listen. “The visit to the Stuttgart Vesperkirche reminds those of us who have a good life that we’re all part of a larger community,” said VfB president Claus Vogt. “We live in open society based on appreciation, support and solidarity. That is why, with the VfB Foundation, we are happy to support all those who need strong shoulders, our respect and our commitment.” The Vesperkirche, which runs from mid-January to early March, is solely funded by donations and is the first of its kind in the German-speaking region. Around 200 people make use of it. In 2023, 35,000 meals were dispensed.
