Two VfB stars named in the Bundesliga ‘Team of the Season’

In conjunction with EA Sports, the Bundesliga drew up a 40-man shortlist of players who have impressed throughout the current campaign. The ‘Team of the Season’ was whittled down to a final 11 via the votes from an expert jury panel (30 percent), the team captains of the 18 Bundesliga clubs (30 percent) and fans (40 percent).

In Waldemar Anton and Serhou Guirassy, two VfB players were voted into the Best XI, with both featuring for the first time. They are both very much deserving of their places: Guirassy has broken a number of VfB club records over the past few months with his scoring exploits. Indeed, his 25 league goals so far in this campaign have him in third place in the race for the Golden Boot – the top scorer in Europe – behind only Harry Kane (Bayern Munich, 35 goals) and Kylian Mbappé (Paris St. Germain, 26).

Anton, meanwhile, has only missed one Bundesliga game all season and was rewarded for his consistently high-quality performances with a debut for the senior German national team in March.
