Following the home game against VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday, nine VfB players will join up with their national teams during the international break. They will feature in a variety of matches, including UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers, Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, friendlies, training camps and the traditional Kirin Challenge Cup 2023.
Qualifiers and Kirin Challenge Cup
Borna Sosa (Croatia) and Konstantinos Mavropanos (Greece) both have Euro 2024 qualifiers on the agenda ahead of the tournament in Germany next year. Sosa faces Wales and Turkey in Group D while Mavropanos takes on Gibraltar and Lithuania in Group B.
Elsewhere, Silas has been called up by DR Congo for Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, while Serhou Guirassy has been nominated by Guinea.
Meanwhile, Japan are eager to build on their performances at last year’s World Cup at the Kirin Challenge Cup 2023. Wataru Endo and Hiroki Ito will be involved for their country in matches against Uruguay and Colombia.
Vagnoman received a maiden call-up to the senior Germany squad from Hansi Flick and will be in the squad for the team’s friendlies against Peru and Belgium. Tiago Tomás (Portugal U21’s) and Alou Kuol (Australia U23’s) will likewise participate in friendlies with their respective teams.
