VfB Stuttgart and SC Freiburg have agreed on a transfer of Florian Müller to the Breisgau club. The 25-year-old goalkeeper made 49 Bundesliga appearances for VfB over the last two seasons and also started both legs of the successful relegation play-off against Hamburger SV. The Saarland-born shot-stopper joined VfB in summer 2021 from 1. FSV Mainz 05 on the back of representing Germany at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “Florian Müller is a model pro. He was a real rock for us in the particular pressure situation of the relegation play-off. In our talks together we’ve now come to an agreement that a transfer of Flo to SC Freiburg is a sensible and suitable move for all parties. We thank Flo for his time here and wish him all the best for the future.”

Florian Müller: “I’ve had two very emotional and eventful seasons at VfB, which were both extremely tense but thankfully ended successfully. I’ve met a lot of great people within the club in the last two years and also made some new friends here. I wish VfB all the best for the future and am now looking forward to my new challenge.”
