You joined VfB from AS Monaco as a 19-year-old. How have the last few years been for you?

Enzo: “I didn’t have the easiest start as I was injured early on and was out for two and a half months. I also had to get used to the differences of the German culture at first. It’s worked out well and today you see the result. I’m happy.”

What helped you to settle in Stuttgart?

Enzo: “Peter Reichert really helped me at the start to find my feet. Then there were Tanguy Coulibaly and Orel Mangala, who made my start a lot easier. Off the pitch, my wife has always been there for me.”

How much have you matured in this time?

Enzo: “We’re a good group with a lot of quality and special characters. The last two seasons have been difficult at times for us, but they’ve also helped us grow. We’ve worked hard and the tide is turning now. It’s been worth it.”

What makes you so strong currently?

Enzo: “Everyone stands up for each other. Everyone puts the team first, plays for the club and the badge. Nobody wants to experience another season like the last two. Everyone gives 110 percent – for the team and for the club.”

That’s also been noticed by the France U21 coach, who picked you in the squad for the first time.

Enzo: “It’s an honour to be called up by Thierry Henry. I’m very happy to represent my country, but it’s even more important to be successful with VfB and produce good performances.”

You’ve made the decision to wear white and red until 2028. Why?

Enzo: “I’m staying because of you, our incredible fans and the special atmosphere in our stadium. We have a great team and a very good coach – that’s why I’ve decided to stay at VfB.”
