Following their 4-0 win against Gladbach, the Zerofivers spoke about a “deserved win,” although the scoreline “maybe doesn’t serve as an accurate representation” of the match as a whole. The team were pleased to have taken all three points, in a match that saw Ludovic Ajorque score his first goal for the club and goalkeeper Robin Zentner make his comeback from injury.

Martin Schmidt: “The first half an hour was pretty even and we were as precise as Bo wanted us to be. We weren’t able to win the ball as often as we would have liked to. Lee’s goal gave us confidence, and Bo’s talk at half time was about how our runs needed to be more intense, especially down the wings. Five minutes into the second half, we won the ball in a situation just like that, on the left flank, and went on to make it 2-0. That put us on course to see the game through. The scoreline might have been a bit high in the end, but we will happily take this result.”

Ludovic Ajorque: “We struggled to press them the way we wanted to in the first half. We tried to press them high, but Gladbach always managed to escape. Fortunately, we made it 1-0. The second half got off to a much better start for us and we deservedly won. The team, the coaches and the rest of the staff have helped give me confidence, and I wanted to thank them for that with a goal. I’m very happy to have scored but I was also happy with our recent wins.”

Robin Zentner: “We were a bit too passive in the first half and allowed them to push us back. That didn’t happen after the break. We pressed them high for the full 90 minutes and were incredibly efficient. 4-0 sounds like a pretty big win, but I wouldn’t let it go to our heads just yet. I’m very happy to be back and that everything feels good. My last game was nearly three months ago and I didn’t have much to do until the one-on-one against Thuram. It always feels good when you get a chance to prove yourself like that.”

Danny da Costa: “We wanted to put Gladbach under pressure early on, because as a team they enjoy building up play from the back. We weren’t able to do that during the first half, we were too far apart and weren’t winning enough of our challenges. Because we ran hard, we were able to plug the gaps at the back and that kept us from getting into any trouble. We looked to attack but also didn’t really cause Gladbach too many issues. We spoke about it at half time and made some changes. We quickly realised that we were able to put on more pressure like that. That was a much better fit for us. It’s a great feeling when you look at the table now. We’re keeping a level head, however, in order to not let things slip now.”
