“Dominant for large parts of the game”

Sporting director Martin Schmidt described his side’s performance as “impeccable” after the final whistle in Leipzig. Nobody was going to disagree with him after a thoroughly deserved 3-0 win. Stefan Bell felt that his side dominated the opponents for parts of the game.

Reaction from Leipzig

Stefan Bell: “Today was a really good performance for the whole 90 minutes. We never felt like we were in danger of being carved open by them. We won the ball back on a number of occasions, had chances and dominated large parts of the game. We scored our goals at the right moments. It was a thoroughly deserved victory and it feels great. It’s our first win here, somewhere where we have conceded a lot of goals in the past. Today was completely different.”

Marcus Ingvartsen: “It feels good to have scored again. The early goal obviously really helped. Although we didn’t have lots of the ball, we completely controlled the game and our tactics worked really well. We wanted to play with confidence today. We did exactly what we had set out to do. We have to carry on like this and can keep looking up the table.”

Ludovic Ajorque: “For the goal, the only way I was going to score was by chipping it with my right over the keeper. I’m happy I was able to do that and also that we picked up three points. The coach has spoken to me lots since the start, and as a team we communicate a lot. I’ve only been here two months, but they’re two reasons why we work so well. It was a great game, from which we are taking home three deserved points. We want to build on that and get another three points next week.

Dominik Kohr: “When you look at today’s game, it’s no surprise that we won. We also deserved to win by the amount we did. We wanted to prevent them from passing it around in the middle and also from making one-twos. That made things really difficult for Leipzig. They often failed to escape our press, so that’s credit to the team performance. I’m glad to have been able to have done my part so that we got a result like this. I’d like to dedicate my goal to my sister, who’s celebrating her birthday today. We want to carry on our good run of form until the end of the season.”
