RB Leipzig were defeated 3-0 by Mainz 05.
Here’s what Marco Rose, Janis Blaswich and Emil Forsberg had to say.
Marco Rose:
- “Mainz deserved their win today. Congratulations to Bo and Mainz. We had high expectations today, but didn’t bring that onto the pitch. I would never accuse my team of lacking desire and carrying out their tasks well. But Mainz were better than us in every area today. I think the statistics will also show that.
It means that we’re in a spell where mental factors start to play a role. You can’t pretend otherwise. Therefore we have some things that we need to improve and work on together.”
Janis Blaswich:
- “It was really hard to swallow today. We had high expectations after the international break and wanted to take it up a notch. We have to move on as quickly as possible. We have a really important game on Wednesday and we have to carry on. We have to look forward, even if today is really difficult.
It’s important that we all regroup and perform on Wednesday.”

Emil Forsberg:
- “We started well but their goal threw us off course and we lost our touch on the game. Mainz did well and we couldn’t find the answers. It doesn’t feel good; we didn’t play well. It wasn’t good enough and we know that.
There are always highs and lows in football. It’s important that we talk about it and come out of it better. We still have a lot of ambitions for the season. We have a great game waiting for us on Wednesday against Dortmund and we want to get back to winning ways. We can only do that together as a team.“
