A delegation from the Chinese FA were guests at RB Leipzig

Last week, as part of the Deutschen Fußball Liga (DFL) “Coach Exchange” program, a 12-member delegation from the Chinese Football Association (CFA) was our guest at RB Leipzig for seven days.

Among the delegation members were the former captain of the national team, Zheng Zhi (108 caps for China) and Shao Jiayi (67 Bundesliga games for Energie Cottbus and 1860 Munich). 

The coaches and association officials from China received numerous insights into the club structure and inner workings at RB Leipzig. The focus was on shadowing training sessions and games across the youth and professional set ups and on knowledge transfer on the topics of “promotion of talent and training of young talent”, “innovative training methods” and “playing philosophy.”

In addition to the intensive exchange with, among others, Manuel Baum (head of youth) and Marco Kurth (assistant coach for the men’s professional team), there was also a training game against RBL employees (including Babacar N’Diaye, Dominik Kaiser and Sebastian Heidinger) and a visit to the home game against VfL Wolfsburg on the programme.
