Born in Heidelberg, he had a great affection for the region and its people. He not only supported me time and again with advice and a great deal of commitment, but we also shared a passion for sport.

He played an important role in the development of TSG Hoffenheim and played a major role in shaping it through his work.

The finance graduate and co-founder of Wipfler & Partner Steuer-Sozietät in Walldorf became known to a broader public through his commitment to the ice hockey club Adler Mannheim, to whose reorganisation he contributed significantly under the leadership of TSG advisory board member Daniel Hopp.

Berthold Wipfler understood like no other how to interconnect different activities and pass on the expertise he gained. He never lost his sense of perspective, never lost his calm, never lost his patience, no matter how many balls he was juggling in the air. His ability with numbers and data was always fascinating for outsiders. Wipfler needed neither pieces of paper nor digital calculating aids.

He had everything in his head and was able to explain his knowledge patiently and comprehensibly in his distinctive voice. With breathtaking speed, the financial expert navigated through the winding paths of the tax jungle and the business world.

Beyond his professional commitment, the native of Heidelberg was an extremely friendly and approachable person whose advice will not only be missed by me.

On 2 July, Berthold Wipfler passed away after a serious illness at the age of 76.
