First friendly of the season in Walldorf

The return to the training ground in Zuzenhausen on Monday will be followed by the first friendly of the 2023/24 campaign on Saturday. TSG Hoffenheim will face local club FC-Astoria at the Dietmar-Hopp-Sportpark in Walldorf at 14:00 CET.

TSG Hoffenheim already contested a friendly at their neighbour’s ground last season. TSG ran out 4-0 winners that day thanks to goals from Jacob Bruun Larsen (2), Muhammed Damar and Fisnik Asllani. That game at the start of July was also Hoffenheim’s first pre-season friendly last year.

Last season, coach Matthias Born’s charges finished their fourth-division campaign in 12th place with 34 points. Walldorf are about to go into their 10th season in the Regionalliga Südwest and are an established name in the league by now. Astoria Walldorf have two players in their squad, Emilian Lässig and Turan Calhanoglu, who came through the TSG Hoffenheim academy.
