A first test at training camp

The first friendly is upon us: TSG Hoffenheim face Norwich City on Tuesday. Kick-off against the English Championship club is scheduled for 18:00 CEST in St. Johann. Johannes Thorup took over as Norwich coach this summer. The Dane succeeded David Wagner, who previously worked in the TSG academy. Last season, the “Canaries” only missed out on promotion in the playoffs

The current squad includes Josh Sargent, a former acquaintance from the Bundesliga. The striker played for Werder Bremen from 2018 to 2021. The star of the team is Gabriel Sara. The Brazilian notched up 25 scorer points in central midfield last season.

There has been one player who has represented both clubs: Lukas Rupp moved to Norwich in 2020 after 51 competitive appearances for TSG Hoffenheim. The midfielder enjoyed promotion to the Premier League in his time in England.

The match against Norwich City will be broadcast on TSG.TV and Sky. TSG Hoffenheim’s second and final friendly match of the training camp will take place on Saturday, when Pellegrino Matarazzo’s team will face newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town (kick-off 13:30 CEST).
