There was encouraging applause for Hertha as they made their way to the Ostkurve after the 1-0 defeat against RB Leipzig. Even though this encouragement was more than just a nice sign and impressively showed the togetherness ahead of the final period of the season, you could see the disappointment in the faces. “It’s disappointing that we lost the game, but we showed the right side of Hertha BSC once again. The fans recognised that we gave everything,” said Prince Boateng, who made clear: “We’ll continue to stick together as a team and go to the lions’ den next week full of energy and aggression.”Herthabsc.com has all the reaction to the match.

Prince Boateng: We didn’t allow them too much and stood up well, but we should have had more courage with the ball, but this isn’t always easy in a situation like this. Still, praise should go to the team, we showed the right side of Hertha BSC once again. The fans recognised that we gave everything, that’s why we will stay positive. It’s disappointing that we lost the game by conceding a goal like that. It wasn’t deserved. Olli saved us on numerous occasions, but I have to be honest that it wasn’t a foul. We’ll continue to stick together as a team and go to the lions’ den next week full of energy and aggression. We are looking forward to it.

Marvin Plattenhardt: There was a lot going for us in this game, especially a lot of fight and passion. The fans also supported us very strongly once again from the outside. In the second half we really came into the game, but just couldn’t score the goal. Leipzig have great players and showed their quality here and there, but we stood up well as a team. It’s very annoying to lose from a set piece; we could have done better there. Now we have the next important game coming up. We definitely want to win at Schalke!

Marco Richter: We were good at winning the ball back and then played well going forward. We were just missing that final pass, so we didn’t have many clear-cut chances. As far as contesting the game is concerned, we can’t be too hard on ourselves. But that of course doesn’t help because we are empty handed. On Friday, we will play in Gelsenkirchen, and the fans have already told us that this will be a very important game. This is when it counts, and we have to give everything for the three points.
