The Blue-Whites fought hard against Borussia Dortmund and the performance was much better than the final scoreline suggests. The players were correspondingly disappointed, but could also find positives from the game. “From my point of view it wasn’t a 4-1 game, it’s a weird result for a really good performance from us. We were right in it after pulling one back, and threw everything into every challenge. Unfortunately, we just lack a bit of consistency in our shooting in the key moments,” said Marco Richter, also looking forward to the next task as he stood on the pitch at the Westfalenstadion. “We have a six pointer ahead of us now against Augsburg – if we win that then everything looks completely different,” said Hertha’s number 23. hertha.bsc has all the immediate reaction to the game in Dortmund.

Marco Richter: From my point of view it wasn’t a 4-1 game, it’s a weird result for a really good performance from us. We were right in it after pulling one back, but unfortunately there were two counters which Dortmund played out very well. We planned for the game a lot, which you could see. I had a very good feel on the pitch meanwhile. Tactically, we were good and threw everything into every challenge. The coach pushed us on once again at the break. Unfortunately, we just lack a bit of consistency in our shooting in the key moments, BVB were more effective overall. We will work through the game together and then move on! We have a six pointer ahead of us now against Augsburg – if we win that then everything looks completely different. We believe in this club and believe in ourselves.

Florian Niederlechner: The situation is obviously not easy, but what we’ve done in the last two games should give us encouragement. We also need to continue this way if we want to move up from the bottom. For my chance to make it 2-2, the ball was unfortunately on my weaker foot and I didn’t connect with it properly. Apart from that, we had a lot of moments and should’ve even gone 1-0 up. It makes it even more annoying that the scoreline was so clear at the end. Now it is about dusting ourselves off and going again! We have a very important game next week against Augsburg that we have to win.

Jessic Ngankam: We put in place what we prepared perfectly and were really in the game. Unfortunately, we didn’t take our chances and because of that, we can only look at ourselves. This defeat hurts, but BVB’s individual quality is well-known. It keeps going next week and we can pick up points again then.

Marvin Plattenhardt: The result doesn’t fully reflect our performance. We played well and had some opportunities where we needed to have a bit more composure, because our high press worked well. In the final stages, we were a bit more open at the back and Dortmund used their counter-attacks well. At the end, we then conceded a direct freekick to make it 4-1 – and we don’t really know how they ended so many clear of us. We fought and gave everything. We have to go into the next challenges like this!
