Match facts ahead of #SVWBMG

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the Foals’ trip to the wohninvest WESERSTADION to face SV Werder Bremen on Saturday, 4th May (15:30 CEST).

Head-to-head

  • There’s not a lot to split the two sides in the 108 times they’ve met in the Bundesliga. Borussia have emerged victorious against Werder on 41 occasions, whereas the Green-Whites have only won 39 of the fixtures, leaving the other 27 results as draws.
  • Gladbach have only lost one of their last 14 league matches against SVW (eight wins, five draws), which saw the Foals fall to a 5-1 defeat at the wohninvest WESERSTADION in October last season.

Statistics

  • The 0-0 draw against Union Berlin last weekend was the fourth time that the Foals have finished a game level this season. Borussia have conceded a total of 60 goals in the current campaign so far, which is more than they did up to this point in the previous season.
  • Gladbach are the side that pose the biggest threat from corners in the league, with an average of one in every 13.8 of them resulting in a goal. BMG have hit the back of the net twelve times following a corner so far this season.
  • Robin Hack is Borussia’s top goalscorer at present, having struck home eight times over the 31 matchdays. Not far behind the forward are eight others who have scored three or more this season, namely Alassane Plea (7), Rocco Reitz (6), Nathan Ngoumou (5), Jordan (5), Tomáš Čvančara (4), Franck Honorat (3), Florian Neuhaus (3) and Ko Itakura (3).
  • Both teams are particularly strong down the right wing, with Mitchell Weiser providing the assist for five goals, while Franck Honorat has set up five for the Foals so far.
  • Olivier Deman was Werder’s ninth substitute to come off the bench and find the back of the net after he nodded home the Green-Whites’ final goal in the side’s 3-0 win over Augsburg last weekend. Borussia have experienced equal success to Saturday’s hosts after having also racked up a total of nine goals from substitutes in the current campaign. Only Borussia Dortmund (13) and the league champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen (10) trump BMG and SVW in this regard.

Officials

  • Timo Gerach is set to officiate what will be his third Bundesliga fixture involving Borussia, the most recent of which being the Foals’ 3-3 draw against Darmstadt on matchday 4.
  • Florian Heft and Eduard Beitinger will be the assistant referees, with Marcel Unger as the fourth official. Johann Pfeifer and Christian Fischer will be responsible for VAR.
