Gladbach gear up for clash against the league leaders
The Foals will travel to face off against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening (18:30 CET) for matchday 19 of the Bundesliga season. A slightly smaller squad than usual took to the training pitch on Wednesday morning to prepare for the encounter with the Werkself.
A number of Gladbach players were absent as a new week of training got underway. Rocco Reitz, who had to be replaced at half time of Sunday’s game against FC Augsburg due to injury, is currently experiencing adductor problems. “He’s a doubt for the game at the weekend,” stated Seoane. Simon Walde was ill, while Manu Koné sat out of Wednesday’s session as he continues to struggle with the muscular problems that restricted his involvement in last week’s training. However, he is expected to make his return to team training on Thursday, alongside Jordan and Marvin Friedrich, who both required an lighter session for load management reasons.
Alassane Plea had to leave the training pitch early on Wednesday, as he is still struggling with a foot injury. Christoph Kramer and Tony Jantschke also didn’t complete the session. “It’s nothing to be worried about for either of them,” assured Seoane. Max Wöber, who has overcome a nasty infection, trained individually, as did Jonas Omlin, who is recovering from shoulder surgery. “We’re hoping that Max will be able to start next week. Jonas is on road to recovery,” said Borussia’s head coach.
The Foals will have a weights session in the afternoon at the Performance Centre. Their final two training sessions before the encounter with Leverkusen on Saturday (18:30 CET) will take place behind closed doors on Thursday and Friday morning.
