Foals defeat Oberneuland 7-0

Borussia Mönchengladbach defeated FC Oberneuland 7-0 in the first game of their three-day post-season mini tour.

The friendly had been planned by the two sides since the 2020/21 season, when Borussia were drawn against the fourth-tier team in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. As a result of the measures in place due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Oberneuland were forced to give up their home right for the tie and were unable to receive any income from the game. At the Marko Mock Arena on Monday, the Foals took control of the game early and led 4-0 at the break thanks to goals from Semir Telalovic, Nathan Ngoumou, Yvandro Borges Sanches and Hannes Wolf. Ngoumou and Telalovic doubled their tallies after half time before Jonas Hofmann rounded off the scoring to secure a 7-0 win.

TEAM NEWS

Head coach Danuel Farke began the game with Tobias Sippel in goal and Joe Scally, Marvin Friedrich and Tony Jantschke in defence. Nathan Ngoumou and Hannes Wolf occupied the flanks, with a central midfield partnership of Rocco Reitz and Oscar Fraulo. Alassane Plea, Semir Telalovic and Yvandro Borges Sanches make up the front three.

SQUAD NEWS

Marcus Thuram, Ramy Bensebaini, Christoph Kramer and Manu Koné did not travel with the team. Thuram is recovering from a thigh issue ahead of the upcoming international fixtures, Bensebaini is being treated for a hip injury and Kramer and Koné were unavailable due to muscle issues that also kept them out of the final game of the Bundesliga season against Augsburg on Saturday.
