Borussia’s attacker put his side 1-0 up after just four minutes. It was Daniel Sinani who increased the lead to 2-0 just before the final whistle and secured the victory. Borussia’s youth goalkeeper Tiago Pereira Cardoso did not feature. With the win, Luxembourg are now third in the table with seven points, three points behind Slovakia in second place.
The Japan national team, including Ko Itakura, secured a 4-1 victory in the friendly match against Peru. Itakura again played the full 90 minutes and now has a total of 20 caps for the “Samurai Blue.” Hiroki Ito (22’), Kaoru Mitoma (37’), Jun’ya Ito (62’) and Daizen Maeda (74’) scored for Japan, while Christofer Gonzales (83’) netted for Peru.
Jonas Hofmann and the Germany national team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Colombia. Borussia’s midfielder did not make an appearance. After a goalless first half, Luis Diaz scored with his head nine minutes after the break to give the visitors the lead. In the closing stages, Joshua Kimmich conceded a penalty for handball, which Juan Cuadrado coolly converted into the bottom left corner. “We had no momentum in the game, no deep runs. We are very disappointed with the way we played. What we tried didn’t work,” summed up national coach Hansi Flick after the final whistle.
After winning their first European Championship qualifying match against Lithuania 2-1, the Denmark U21s and Oscar Fraulo earned a point against Wales (2-2). Fraulo was in the starting line-up and was replaced by Aske Adelgaard in the 64th minute. Maurits Kjærgaard gave Denmark the lead before half-time through a penalty (39’), and only two minutes after the break Lucas Boel Hey, who had come on as a substitute, conceded a penalty and also received a red card. Rubin Colwill converted to equalise (47’). In the 60th minute, it was Colwill again who scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. Denmark came back and equalised through Oliver Nielsen. Head coach Steffen Höjer’s team defended this scoreline until the final whistle with only eight players on the pitch, since Alexander Busch was also sent off in the 80th minute.
