#BMGSGE: Match reaction

After Borussia’s home game against Eintracht Frankfurt, we have the reaction of Patrick Herrmann and Tony Jantschke, both of whom played their final game at BORUSSIA-PARK, as well as Jonas Omlin, Robin Hack and the two head coaches Gerardo Seoane and Dino Toppmöller.

Patrick Herrmann: I’d like to have scored a goal if I’m honest (laughs). It was a great feeling to play in front of the home fans one final time. Everything was great, and it all started during the warm-up before the ceremony. I’ll need a bit of time to fully digest these moments.

Tony Jantschke: It meant a lot to me to be able to play at BORUSSIA-PARK one last time after my injury. The atmosphere was amazing during the game and then even better afterwards. I’ve had a lot of brilliant memories here and met a lot of great people. I’m extremely thankful for everything and I’ll miss playing for Borussia.

Jonas Omlin: Of course there’s a huge sense of relief now. The pressure was very high, even though we hadn’t really talked about it. We all knew how important this game was. In our matches this season, we tried everything and worked hard, though it all didn’t always come off. We’re now relieved that we’ve managed to secure survival. Tony Jantschke and Patrick Herrmann are two bona fide legends of this club. They brought passion and endeavour until the end, even if their bodies haven’t always been able to take the strain. They were perfect role models for everyone from the first to the last day here.

Robin Hack: It was very emotional and touching to see Tony Jantschke and Patrick Herrmann in front of the Nordkurve with tears in their eyes. In addition to that, I’m happy that we’ve secured survival and I could help the team with my goal. After taking an early lead, we didn’t manage to stay on top and created very few chances in the second half in particular. Overall though, it’s just important that we got the point and were able to give Tony and Flaco a proper goodbye.

Head coach Gerardo Seoane: We started the game with a lot of energy. The early goal was good for us and gave us confidence. After the goal we conceded though, we were too passive and had to do a lot of defending. Patrick Herrmann and Tony Jantschke have both had exemplary careers and given so much for Borussia. That’s why they deserved this proper goodbye.

Head coach Dino Toppmöller (Eintracht Frankfurt): We deliberately decided on a very attacking lineup because we really wanted to win the game. We actually made a good start, so we shouldn’t have let ourselves fall behind early like we did. Borussia needed two good passes to score. My team reacted well afterwards and stayed on the attack. After half time, we had probably our best period of the game, but sadly we didn’t manage to take the lead. Of course we wanted to win, but overall the point is okay for us.
