A new week of training begins with Omlin back out on the pitch with the team for the first time
On Tuesday morning, the Foals kicked off their preparations for the Bundesliga game at FC Bayern on Saturday (15:30 CET). Jonas Omlin returned after a long lay-off with injury, and began to be partially integrated into goalkeeper training.
Jonas Omlin had to undergo a shoulder operation at the start of September. The Swiss has since been working hard on his recovery. After having trained individually on the pitch away from the team in the last two weeks, Omlin began to be partially integrated into goalkeeper training on Tuesday morning. The netminder completed several goalkeeper-specific sessions alongside Moritz Nicolas, Jan Olschowsky and Tobias Sippel.
It will still be some time before the 30-year-old can return to team training. “It was a long road back, but there’ve been basically no setbacks at all. I’m now just happy to be back with the group on the pitch, even though I still need to bide my time before I can train fully with the team again,” said Omlin.
Wöber, Koné and Plea training individually
Max Wöber (recovery training after illness), Manu Koné (muscle problems) and Alassane Plea (foot injury) firstly took part in some running sessions together before completing separate intensive individual programmes on the athletics field. Tomáš Čvančara is still recovering from an ankle ligament tear. Ko Itakura is also missing because of his participation in the Asian Cup, with his Japan side set to face Bahrain in their round of 16 match on Wednesday at 12:30 CET.
Head coach Gerardo Seoane’s players will return to the training pitch for another public session on Wednesday at 11:00 CET, and fans are also welcome to attend talent training at 15:00 CET. The final two sessions on Thursday and Friday ahead of the game against the German champions on Saturday afternoon (15:30 CET) will take place behind closed doors.
