1,900 Bundesliga games: records and statistics

Saturday afternoon’s away game at 1. FC Heidenheim is not just the first time this fixture has been played in the Bundesliga, but also sees the Foals reach an important milestone. It is Gladbach’s 1,900th Bundesliga match.

Borussia have beaten local rivals 1. FC Köln more often than any other side in their Bundesliga history, winning 52 times. They have also recorded a club-high 25 wins away against the Billy Goats. The Foals have won more home games against SV Werder Bremen than any other team (31). However, their best win percentage (min. 20 meetings) is against Arminia Bielefeld (64.7%). Second in this ranking are Hannover 96 (58.9%), followed by 1. FC Köln (53.1%).
Against sides they have faced a minimum of 20 times in the Bundesliga, the Foals have the lowest win percentage against FC Bayern (25.0%). Interestingly enough, Borussia are still one of the record champions’ bogey teams, with an overall win percentage of 47.3%.

RECORDS

Famously, the biggest win in Borussia’s Bundesliga history is a 12-0 thrashing of Dortmund back on 29th April 1978 (Photo). However, the Foals have managed to hit double-figures for goals in three other games: 11-0 vs. Schalke on 7th January 1967, 10-0 vs. Borussia Neunkirchen on 4th November 1967 and 10-0 vs. Eintracht Braunschweig on 11th October 1984. Gladbach’s heaviest defeats in the top flight have come against SV Werder Bremen on 30th April 1966 and VfB Stuttgart on 18th September 2010 – both games ended in 7-0 losses for the Foals.
