In order to help the people in the south-east of Turkey and north-west of Syria, which has been plagued by the civil war, BVB decided at short notice to auction the special match shirts worn by the team during the Bundesliga match against Hertha Berlin via the MatchWornShirt platform.

The auction ended last Sunday and raised over €70,000 in total. The proceeds will be used for emergency earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria.  The special shirts were up for auction for two weeks.

“To us, it was natural to use the huge attention the special shirt had garnered to do something good. The team and the entire club were keen to make a contribution to supporting the people in need there,” said CEO Carsten Cramer.

The joint MatchWornShirt auction with Werder Bremen one week earlier had already raised more than €20,000 from each team.

Borussia Dortmund are calling on you once again to provide help and to donate to the people of Turkey and Syria. One of the organisations we trust with the donations is medico international.
