Sebastian Haller scored in the 6-0 friendly win against San Diego Loyal. After the match, he spoke about the USA tour and about being named on the team council.
Sebastien Haller on his fitness:
“I feel good. This is the only time in the season when we can push and be tired. We have to do it, even if it’s hard on our bodies.”
… his time off:
“For the first time in my life, I had two and a half weeks without exercise. That was certainly not easy. In the end, my body did a sort of reset. That was important for me. I also spent time with the family. And then I prepared my body for the new season.”
… the USA tour:
“It’s great. We have good conditions, good weather. We have had a lot of good moments with people who are excited about the tour. It’s not so easy for us as players because there are some long journeys, but that’s part of the work. The best thing we can do at the moment is to prepare and spend time together ahead of the first competitive game.”
… the team council:
“For me, that is a sign that they trust me” It will not change how I behave towards my teammates. We are pulling all in the same direction. I will do my best to make sure that everyone is happy and comfortable. Then we can achieve our goals.”
… the prospect of a normal season after surviving a serious illness:
“It’s the best I could hope for. I’ve been playing football since I was a child. The fact that I can do what I love most is a kind of blessing. We use every moment to enjoy it all – on and off the pitch. I am trying to bring positive energy, because we must not forget that we are lucky enough to play this sport and to be in this situation. For me, this is a bonus.”
