Borussia Dortmund have prematurely extended the contract of assistant coach Armin Reutershahn, 63, until 30 June 2025.
Reutershahn joined head coach Edin Terzic’s coaching staff in January 2023. Peter Hermann, 71, had previously informed the club that he would no longer be available due to health reasons.
“Armin agreed to a six-month contract with us at very short notice during the winter and immediately supported us in a difficult situation. We already regarded him highly for his willingness at that time and said from the start that we would talk about a longer-term future following the season. The team and the coaching staff have now worked with him for six months and gotten to know and appreciate each other. It was therefore our objective, and also the wish of our coach Edin Terzic, to continue the successful cooperation in this setup,” said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl.
Reutershahn, who had already worked for the likes of Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart prior to his time in Dortmund, emphasised: “For me, it is incredibly good fun to work with his coaching staff, this team and these employees. I had expected a very emotional environmental at a tradition-steeped club like BVB – and am happy that exactly that has turned out to be the case. I’m proud to be able to help BVB together with my colleagues to become even more successful on a sporting level.”
