The Germany U17 national team have also won their second group game at the World Cup in Indonesia. Paris Brunner opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time in the comfortable 3-1 victory against New Zealand. Fellow Borussia players Charles Herrmann and Almugera Kabar played a part in the match too.

After scoring to make it 1-0 (45+7), Paris Brunner unluckily hit the woodwork on two occasions. Max Moerstedt (TSG Hoffenheim, 60) then made it 2-0, with Bilal Yalcinkaya (Hamburger SV, 81) making it 3-0, before the New Zealanders grabbed a consolation goal when they converted from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

As they did in the 3-1 win against Mexico, the Dortmund duo of Charles Herrmann and Paris Brunner lined up on the wings for the German team. Both were substituted after 64 minutes in order to conserve their energy. Borussia’s left-back Almugera Kabar replaced Paris Brunner in the match and made his second World Cup appearance. “I’m satisfied with the result, but we were very nervous today and made too many mistakes,” explained DFB coach Christian Wück.

The Germany national team has therefore already qualified for the round of 16. A draw in the final group game against Venezuela on Saturday will be enough to secure their place in the knockout stages as group winners. (wiwi)
