The Borussia Dortmund women’s football teams returned to training on Monday evening to prepare for the 2023/24 season. The women’s first and second teams as well as the newly founded U17s got to work on the premises of the BVB Evonik Football Academy.

The new U17 team kicked off proceedings at 18:00 CET. Not all the players were on the pitch due to their holidays, but the first session under the leadership of Marc Liesler and Annika Billing was a good start for the new team.

With around six weeks to go until the first competitive games, the two women’s teams got their pre-season under way too. After a joint launch event at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK on Sunday, the attention turned to sport for the first time on Monday evening.

Among the group were the six new signings from other clubs: while Merle Greulich (SGS Essen II) and Danelle Tan (London Bees FC) had already joined in with some training sessions towards the end of last season, it was the first session in a Black & Yellow kit for Katharina Jäger, Marah Tayeh, Lisa Gomulka (all FSV Gütersloh) and Hannah Geldschläger (DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck).

Internal new signings Ana Schönenberg, Marjana Naceva and Lena Kölmel from the reserves also trained with their new team. You will find info on the BVB Women I’s preparations here!

At the same time, coach Ingo Kuhl also summoned the BVB Women II for the first session of the season, with 10 newcomers taking part for the first time: Madita Sommer, Klara Junker, Lynn Thäter, Svenja Hörenbaum (all FSV Gütersloh II), Yasmin Stromberg, Elaine Eickmann (both TuS Germania Lohauserholz), Celina Hoffmann (SGS Essen III), Jacqueline Pilzecker (RW Unna), Mia Böger (SpVg. Berghofen) and Celine Reck (FC Iserlohn).
