What a selfless decision! VfL fan Marlon was stood on the Ostkurve during the home game against Greuther Fürth and was able to witness not only three points, but also Maxim Leitsch’s first Bundesliga goal up close and personal. And that was just a few days after his decisive mistake in the DFB-Pokal against Freiburg. ‘Leitschi’ was celebrated after the game in front of the Ostkurve by the blue and white supporters, not only because of his goal. After the game, our central defender received an oversized FIFA card handmade by Marlon himself, and as a thank-you he received the jersey worn in the game by Maxim.
But Marlon didn’t keep the jersey for himself, he wanted to auction it off for a good cause. In the end, a €20,000 bid was enough to win the auction for United Charity, a magnificent sum! Marlon and his family are now donating this amount to our VfL fundraising campaign on betterplace.org for the people in Ukraine! Thank you very much for this great act, Marlon!
This Thursday we were able to welcome the VfL fan together with his parents at Castroper St. After the lads had trained Marlon and his family had the chance to meet Maxim Leitsch. Of course, he also wanted to thank Marlon for the great action and presented him with a new jersey with the number 29 on the back. It’s good to be kind, what a guy!
