Thomas Letsch (Head Coach VfL Bochum 1848): There were worlds between the two teams today. We lacked everything that made us strong last week. That was completely gone after the 0:2 at the latest. Accordingly, we are not only going home from an away game with a defeat, but also with four goals conceded. That hurts and is not so easy to explain. We must not show this discrepancy between two games again. It’s going to be hard to compete in the league this way.
Niko Kovac (head coach VfL Wolfsburg): We played good, very good football today. In the second half we created many chances, which ultimately led us to a deserved winner. I am very pleased and very happy. I would like to congratulate my team for an extraordinarily good performance. A lot of things worked well.
Dominique Heintz: The first 15, 20 minutes were good from us. We did what we showed at home. After that, we were always one step too late and conceded two goals on a standard. When you concede two goals away from home in that way, it is of course difficult to turn the game around. We were always one step too late when we pushed out and lost balls too easily in transition situations.
Philipp Hofmann: It’s difficult to explain why we have such a hard time away from home. It hurts extremely. We had far too many gaps when we conceded goals, we have to talk to each other more. We had planned to perform as well away as we did at home. We didn’t manage that. You don’t survive like that in the Bundesliga. We can’t just rely on home games, that doesn’t work.
Kevin Stöger: We showed a very poor performance today. I don’t really care whether we play at home or away. We must not perform like that in any game. We can’t afford that, that’s not the VfL. I am very, very, angry. We can be happy that it ended 0:4 and not higher. Wolfsburg did well and beat us with our weapons, which have made us strong in recent weeks.
