FCA sign Keven Schlotterbeck
New arrival from Freiburg
FC Augsburg have completed the signing of defender Keven Schlotterbeck from SC Freiburg. The centre-half arrives with 110 Bundesliga appearances under his belt, and has signed a three year contract with the club. All parties involved have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.
Schlotterbeck has spent the last two Bundesliga seasons out on loan at VfL Bochum. He scored five goals last season, including a penalty in Bochum’s relegation play-off against Fortuna Düsseldorf, which helped to secure the side’s Bundesliga status for at least another campaign. The 6’3″ defender made 53 appearances for his parent club, as well as 27 for Union Berlin. Schlotterbeck also featured for Germany at the Tokyo Olympics.
A determined team player
“After a great two years in Bochum, which fortunately ended on a high note, I am extremely happy to make a permanent move to Augsburg. FCA are all about courageous and passionate play, which suits my style very well. With my experience and my ability to challenge for the ball, I want to be a leader in the team and make next season a successful one for me and my teammates,” says Schlotterbeck.
“Keven Schlotterbeck is a player with a great mindset, who has impressed us not only with his strength in the tackle, but also with his passing play and heading ability,” says FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic. “Keven has also shown in the past that he can be a driving force and motivator in the team. We are delighted to strengthen our team with Keven, who is a team player with a great fighting spirit.”
