Engels converts from the spot, Beljo qualifies for the EUROs

The final international break of 2023 is over. After Ruben Vargas managed to qualify for the upcoming EUROs with Switzerland, Dion Beljo followed suit on Tuesday night with Croatia.
Dion Beljo, who was added to the Croatia squad on Sunday and did not make an appearance in the game, celebrated qualification for the EUROs with his compatriots, following a narrow 1-0 victory over Armenia. With the victory, the 2018 World Cup runners-up finished second in Group D behind Turkey and booked their place at the upcoming EUROs in Germany.
Fredrik Jensen and the Finland squad already knew that they would miss out on automatic qualification before their 2-1 win over San Marino on Monday. The FCA attacker was brought on in the 79th minute. The play-off draw including Finland will take place on Thursday afternoon.
Switzerland had already secured qualification, but they suffered a 1-0 loss to Romania in their final group game. Ruben Vargas was in the starting XI and was brought off in the 81st minute.
Engels with a convincing performance against Spain
Arne Engels impressed for the Belgium 21s, playing the whole game and converting a penalty to put his team 2-1 up in Belgium’s 3-1 victory over the Spanish U21 side. Tim Breithaupt did not get any game time with the Germany U21s; Antonio Da Silva’s team managed to get an important 3-1 win over Poland in their EURO qualification campaign.
