Mio Backhaus and Keke Topp spent three years together in SV Werder Bremen’s academy. After they went their separate ways in club football, the pair shared a room together whilst playing for Germany’s youth teams. Backhaus and Topp are now back together at SVW and spoke to WERDER.de about their journeys, the training camp and the strengths of one another.

After a short session working on stability, the FCA players trained for the first time in the afternoon at the grounds of the ANEW Resort White River. Lots of work had been carried out to get things ready for FC Augsburg’s team, with the club’s visual present on advertising boards around the pitch. Aside from Nediljko Labrović and Kristijan Jakić, who haven’t yet been able to travel to South Africa due to technical issues, all players were available.

“The last six months in Velje have been good for me. I’ve been able to get some minutes and show what I’m capable of at a good level. Another loan spell gives me the chance to build on that and to take further important steps in my career,” said Čolina, whose contract at FC Augsburg is still valid until 30th June 2027.

According to Manuel Veth (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia), Bayern will be prioritizing the contracts of Musiala and Davies in the summer. Bayern sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić has already met with the representatives of both players, presumably to ensure that neither player does not entertain any offers from other clubs.

The 2024/25 Bundesliga season is in the starting blocks, with the action set to finally get going at the end of August. The advance sale of tickets for the game away to Eintracht Frankfurt (Saturday 31 August, 15:30 CEST) is already under way.
