1. FSV Mainz 05

Going into the final away game with good memories

The Zerofivers are on the road for the final time this season. Mainz are set to face Hertha BSC this Sunday (18:30), following on from their sensational 3-1 win over the Bundesliga champions FC Bayern last time out. The hosts can secure their Bundesliga survival with three points, while the visitors will be looking to finally get an away win after some strong home performances. “Looking ahead to next season, it is important to show that we can do something away from home,” said Bo Svensson ahead of the game.

VfL Wolfsburg

Youngest teams face off

Valuable points are at stake for both VfB and VfL when the two sides meet on Saturday 18 March (kick-off 15:30 CET). While the Swabians are battling against relegation, the Wolves have European ambitions. With the hosts under greater pressure going into Matchday 25, VfL can play without shackles as they sit comfortably in mid-table. Nevertheless, it’s set to be a keenly fought contest, as it was when the Wolves won 3-2 in the reverse fixture.

Bavarian Podcast Works: Weekend Warm-up Podcast Season 2, Episode 32 — A preview of Bayern Munich vs. Gladbach…

A bit banged up and maybe a little weary, Julian Nagelsmann will have some key decisions to make this weekend, but that is not nearly all there is to talk about this week. This is what we have on tap for this episode:

SC Freiburg

Not feeling the pressure ahead of trip to Berlin

This weekend’s clash with Union Berlin could be a key moment in determining whether SC will be able to finish in the top four. Head coach Urs Fischer’s side will also be representing the Bundesliga on the European stage next season, and like SC, are still fighting for the best possible position in the table. Both sides are currently on 56 points heading into Saturday’s clash, with the Berliners just ahead of SC on goal difference. “We’re in a good position and can go into the match feeling optimistic,” said SCF head coach Christian Streich. “The same goes for Union. Like us, they have played a fantastic season so far, setting up this special clash. We’re looking forward to it.”
