Thank you and good luck, Lars Stindl!

After eight years with Borussia, captain Lars Stindl has opted to continue his career at his hometown club, Karlsruher SC. The striker has been involved in a lot of special moments during his time at the club that will remain in the memories of Borussia fans for a long time to come.

Lars Stindl joined the club in summer 2015 from Hannover 96 and made 271 appearances across eight years, scoring 83 goals and registering 62 assists. He became club captain ahead of the 2016/17 season and has been one of the club’s most regular-featured players. Stindl has been involved in some of the club’s most exciting memories of recent years, such as his legendary hat-trick in the Europa League second-leg win away against Fiorentina, or his three goal involvements in the 4-2 Champions League win against Sevilla on 25th November 2015, his match-winning goal in the 3-2 derby win over Köln on 8th April 2017 or his hat-trick in a 3-3 draw against Frankfurt in December 2020.

“There have been so many special moments,” said Stindl. “We played in the Champions League in three seasons during my time here and in Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus we had some cool draws which allowed us to take on the ‘crème de la crème’ of European football. We also had some incredible games in the Europa League, such as our away win against Fiorentina, which secured qualification to the next round. I’ll never forget those games and so many other moments.”

Borussia will always have a special place in Stindl’s heart. “My time here was the most amazing time of my life and I’ll never forget this club. I’m incredibly grateful to all of these brilliant people that I could meet, both around the club and my home in the last eight years, as well as all of the Borussia fans,” said the 34-year-old.

Borussia thank Lark Stindl for his time and effort at the club and wish him all the best for the future on and off the pitch.

Lars Stindl is leaving Borussia after eight years.
