According to a report from Abendzeitung journo Maximilian Koch (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern’s medical team is going full steam ahead to get Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who will miss Cameroon’s games, game ready for Borussia Dortmund. Given that Bayern rely on the striker a lot (Exhibit A: the Bayer Leverkusen game), the plan is to roll Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané as the CAMs/pseudo wingers.
With the tall Austrian upfront, SC played lots of long balls in the first few minutes, with Gregoritsch having a shot from the edge of the box blocked after 6 minutes. SC controlled the game and obviously it was a set piece – Freiburg and Darmstadt are among the best teams from set pieces in the league – which led to the next opportunity (12’). Vincenzo Grifo’s central freekick from distance crept narrowly wide of the left-hand post.

Marco Rose, Christoph Baumgartner and Yussuf Poulsen speak about our 2-1 loss against Wolfsburg
They’d been out in the city the night before, somehow still outnumbered by the English blokes posturing outside Irish pubs with their chests out like they were raising a posse together to chase the bad guys in black out of their town once and for all.
Following on from their 1-0 DFB Cup triumph over RB Leipzig, VfL Wolfsburg beat the same opposition 2-1 in the Bundesliga on Saturday to end a five-game winless streak in the league. Jonas Wind scored his ninth goal of the season (9′), and after Yussuf Poulsen had equalised (52′), Rogerio netted the winner with his first goal for the club (66′). The Green-and-Whites are next in action on Saturday 2 December away to VfL Bochum (kick-off 15:30 CET).
The question remains, however, if the Bavarians would be willing to open up the vault to add another expensive talent should an opportunity arise.
“Oliver Baumann is not only an identifiable figure and the record appearance-maker for our club, but also an example and a model professional who was and is an absolute guarantee of success for TSG with his consistently strong performances,” said Managing Director Alexander Rosen, adding: “For this reason, we are all the more delighted that our journey together is entering into its second decade. This is an exceptionally strong signal in professional football and in these fast-moving times. It shows mutual appreciation and deep trust. In nine of our 16 seasons in the Bundesliga to date, Oliver Baumann has been TSG’s undisputed No. 1. There is nothing that emphasises the performance, consistency and importance of this player for the club and the respective teams more,” emphasised Rosen. “Oli has been with us through all the highs and lows, has always been a leader and has always remained true to himself, although he has reinvented himself time and again as a goalkeeper. His hard work in training is legendary; with an almost inexhaustible number of new exercises, he is not only taking himself to a higher level. A number of young goalkeepers have grown by his side.”
