Borussia Dortmund

U19s to start pre-season preparations

The usual performance tests, which all players took part in including the still-injured Luke Rahmann, took place at the beginning of the week. The work on the pitch will get under way on Wednesday. “The lads have some hard weeks ahead,” smiled Tullberg, who wants to go “as far as possible” in all three competitions (Bundesliga, UEFA Youth League and DFB-Pokal). “The ultimate goal, however, is the West German championship. We’re aiming for a hat-trick, a third title in a row. That will be incredibly difficult, but I’m optimistic,” Tullberg explained. For the first time since 2018/19, the Bundesliga will return to a round-robin format with home and away fixtures. Under his tutelage, BVB have not lost a league match.

Big success for TSG’s sustainability strategy

It’s the Champions League of sustainability: with eight competitions, more than 1,200 applicants and high-profile accompanying events, the German Sustainability Award (DNP) can be considered the biggest prize of its kind in Europe. And TSG is at the forefront. “We can be proud of the fact that our approach to sustainability with the ‘TSG is movement’ strategy, which was launched five years ago, is being recognised so positively,” said Prof. Dr Jan Mayer, the managing director responsible for corporate development at TSG Hoffenheim. “The very favourable assessment of our work by the expert jury is an incentive for us to continue the important task of transformation for a sustainable future with the help of our committed partners and our fans.”

From Kreichgau to Köpenick

Union re-start their top-flight routine after an unusually long winter break that dragged on from mid-November until well into January due to the World Cup. But they’ve been busy with the time, getting ready for 2023, with a winter training camp in Spain completed, as well as six wins from six friendlies for Urs Fischer’s side.

FC Bayern München

Report: Konrad Laimer to Bayern Munich still on after sacking of Julian Nagelsmann

The Austrian international was a preferred player from Nagelsmann’s Leipzig days and, like Marcel Sabitzer, a player the now-former Bayern coach sought to bring to Bavaria. Also like Sabitzer, it wasn’t immediately clear where Laimer would stack up in the squad, or at what position in a starting lineup. Sabitzer is now on loan at Manchester United and looking set to make his stay in England permanent.
