Pole Murderer: Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel “Hulks up” to smash training equipment

While there were no fights (that we are aware of) during practice, there was some frustration and things did get physical today at Bayern Munich’s training session. Manager Thomas Tuchel was so angry at the way his team was practicing and how many times he had to correct mistakes, that he grabbed a training pole, and snapped it half.

TSG Hoffenheim

A winless run into the drop zone

It felt a bit like early salvation: on Matchday 22, VfL Bochum upset one of the big clubs – as they have done so often since returning to the Bundesliga in 2021 – by beating Bayern Munich 3-2. The result left them in eleventh place, nine points clear of the relegation zone and with high hopes for a tranquil remainder of the season.

Looking back at three very special RBL victories against Borussia Dortmund

1. FC Union Berlin

Union Versus Braga

Directly after Union’s 1-1 draw against Augsburg last Saturday, defender Robin Gosens set the tone for the match in Portugal when he emphasised: “We want to take something worthwhile with us in Braga in order to make it through the winter in Europe.” Union need at least a draw against Sporting to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League alive. But following their superb draw in Napoli a fortnight ago, a win would see them jump to third place in group D with only a single game left to play, that being when Real Madrid come to the Olympiastadion on 12. December.

Borussia Dortmund

German beaten despite Füllkrug goal

Füllkrug’s goal had temporarily made it 2-2. The 30-year-old prevailed in a one-on-one duel against Ozan Kabak to get on the end of Florian Wirtz’s through ball and placed a smart finish into the near post in the 49th minute. Before that, Kai Havertz had given Germany an early lead, but the Turks had turned the game around before half-time.

SV Werder Bremen

“We know exactly where we stand”

SV Werder Bremen’s 2-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart certainly came as a relief for both the fans and the club as a whole. The Green-Whites are now seven points clear of the relegation zone, and are sat in a comfortable 11th place ahead of the final few fixtures in the current campaign. Despite this, Ole Werner was hesitant to discuss his side’s survival in the pre-match press conference prior to the meeting with FC Augsburg on Saturday, 27th April (15:30 CEST), arguing that: “We know exactly where we stand in terms of our position in the table and the fact that we still need to pick up more points.”

Off the Crossbar: FC Barcelona already looking to push Robert Lewandowski with…Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

In the summer transfer window of 2022, Barça made a splash by making a successful play for Bayern’s legendary number nine, Robert Lewandowski — despite having former Arsenal FC man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already at the position, having signed him from the London club on a free. Question about funding and financial levers swirled all summer long, and eventually, in January, Aubameyang was sold off to Chelsea FC.
